Fans of teen romance writer Lucy Kevin and “sexy vampire” novelist Tina Folsom — whose eBooks have been tearing up the retail charts — can now get samples of all of their books in apps that employ the unique look and feel of the author’s books. Branded apps are a great free gift to fans who want a more direct connection with the author.
In their apps you can flip through the pages by swiping your finger or tapping the left and right sides of the screen, add bookmarks, navigate through the Table of Contents — and do all the things you’re used to in other eReading apps. The full version of each book is available at any time by tapping a “BUY” button, then paying through your iTunes account. See examples in the screen shots below, or download the free apps and try them out. Just search for “Lucy Kevin” or “Tina Folsom” from your iPhone or iPad App Store.
We’re still in pilot phase but are looking for more authors to join the program. To qualify you need to be an author or publisher with rights to many books in a series, a history of strong sales and a hunger for experimentation. What Does AuthorApps do?
We create branded mobile eReaders for authors and publishers that work on the iPad and iPhone. Authors can customize their apps with their own graphics, include sample ePub files, and most importantly, sell their eBooks directly to their readers through our platform. This is the next step for authors who have a following and want to interact more directly with their readers right from within the reading experience.
Who Are AuthorApps For?
AuthorApps aren’t for everybody. They make the most sense for prolific writers or publishers who have name recognition and a series of books — either new or from their own backlist — and who directly connect with readers through social media and e-mail newsletters.
